Teachable moments

Teachable moments
in early childhood education refer to those unplanned and spontaneous events that provide excellent opportunities for learning. These moments occur naturally during our day-to-day experiences and can be used by our fabulous ECS teachers to impart valuable knowledge and skills. By being attentive and responsive, we can turn everyday experiences into valuable learning opportunities for young children.

Just the other day, as the Pre-K class was opening the sandbox, they found a frog. This provided us with an opportunity to talk about being kind to animals. We found this perfect opportunity to teach the Jewish value of Tza’ar Ba’alei Chayim - Kindness to Animals. These spontaneous encounters not only enrich children's understanding of the world but also instill essential values that will guide them throughout their lives.
